What is the main function of a notary's office?

The aim of the notary’s office is to give legal security to acts and contracts that are of great importance to people, for example, when buying a house, applying for a loan from the bank or making a will. Take a look at all the services we offer!

How can I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment by calling 966 80 86 66 or sending us an e-mail to Lriesgo@notariado.org. We will be happy to arrange your appointment! Don’t forget to bring all the necessary documentation for your procedure.

What do notary services cost?

Notaries in Spain are governed by the Notarial Tariff published in the Real Decreto 1426/1989, de 17 de noviembre, por el que se aprueba el Arancel de los Notarios.

Do I have the right to the free choice of a notary?

This is the case. The client is free to choose the notary, and it is not permissible for financial institutions or real estate agencies to impose a notary.

The signature day

What do I have to bring to the signing?

You must bring a valid official Spanish identity document (DNI) at the time of signing, a photocopy of which is not admissible. If you are a foreigner, you will need a N.I.E. In the case of proxies, you will need an authorized copy of the power of attorney.

I have an expired DNI/NIE, can I sign a document?

No. If you reside in Spanish territory you must bring your DNI. Foreigners must always present proof of their Foreigners’ Identification Number (NIE) or passport. Any person who goes before a notary must be fully identified for the execution of any notarial document.

And in the absence of the above, can I carry my driving license?

No. A driving license is not a valid document for the purposes of notarial identification.

Do I need to bring the ID card of the person I represent?

No. You must bring the certified copy of the power of attorney.In this copy, the authorizing notary will have identified your principal. Ask us about the sufficiency of the power of attorney before the scheduled appointment.

Do I need to bring the NIE of the person I represent?

Depends. You must bring the certified copy of the power of attorney. If the notary has stated the NIE on it, you do not need to bring it.

Must we all be present?

It depends on the service. Ask us to make sure.
